Back for 2013

Oh, hai there. I suppose I have some explaining to do.

The last time I posted on my blog was back in the summer. There are a lot of reasons why I haven’t been posting, but at the core all I can say is that I was tired of blogging. There reached a point when I was churning out posts just for the sake of churning out posts. I wasn’t happy with the text and knew I could do better. I then decided that if I’m not going to produce anything with substantial quality, I shouldn’t produce anything at all. As a secondary reason, snapping pictures of my meals at restaurants became tedious. It felt intrusive, like the old man at The Optimist who hit on me halfway through a glorious lobster roll.

Good news, though. I’ve decided to start blogging again. The thought didn’t occur to me until — wait for it — I got my first smartphone the other day: the iPhone 5. The phone’s picture quality is phenomenal, probably better than the camera I bought earlier in the summer. I have also missed blogging, thanks to those of you who encouraged me to resume writing.

I hope to blog again but not in the way you’re accustomed to. I don’t have time — and frankly don’t want to spend the time —  to dish out clean, sharp prose, not that I ever did. Between being editor of the campus newspaper and trying to find a job post-graduation in May, I will be busy. Posts, I anticipate, will be quick and snappy. They’ll be gritty and unapologetic.

So here’s to 2013. May this year bring many a wondrous blog posts.
